Logo Design: Madmen Photographers

One of the best things about my job is being able to help other creatives realise their business potential.

In no case was this more so true than with the gentlemen behind Madmen Photographers. Having worked with Warren professionally for a couple of years, and having known both of them for about 3 years, when they approached me to do a logo design for their recent business kick off, it was an absolute no brainer for me. I had experienced their photography work first hand, both on the client side and as someone who really appreciates beautiful photography, and I knew that with a bit of branding work, they could create a very professional looking business representation to match their photography skill.

The most important consideration for this logo was its use as a watermark for the boys photos. Having run into a couple of copywrite snaffoo’s (thats politically correct right?) over the past few years, we had a pretty in-depth conversation about what was and wasn’t acceptable in terms of sharing their photography, and how the use of a watermark would help them in the long run. The biggest thing that came out of that conversation was the need for the watermark to not intrude on the photos too much, while still being distinct enough to recognise.

MMP-Logo Style Guide
In the photography industry, there are alot of logos and watermarks that are simply script writing of a persons name or their business name. The desire to be different was what drove Warren and Josh towards this circular logo design, which is vaguely reminiscent of a front on view down a camera lense. A simple logo that relys on strong typography and simplicty of shape, this logo is distinctive in their field, representative of what it is that they do and infinitely professional, all of which are the standards by which I measure logo success.
