If you have been hanging around these parts for a while now, you would know that I have worked with the team at Hair by Phd for the past 4 years, managing their social media accounts and blogging, growing their platforms to showcase their amazing colouring and style work. When Sarkis from Hair by Phd approached me about a complete overhaul of their website, I absolutely jumped at the chance to redesign their site and refresh their overall digital presence, bringing it more in line with the premium service that they provide to all customers.
We decided to undertake a complete visual rebrand, allowing us to maintain their existing logo but really refresh the other elements of their brand in0line with their premium market position. I worked with the amazing Adrian Connelly Photography to shoot a range of images across the three salons, not only to showcase these beautiful spaces but also to show off the amazing hair that the team at Hair by Phd are able to give to each of their clients. High key black and white photography becomes the hero of the website, giving a premium, luxury look and really showcasing the intricacies of hair and styling that the Hair by Phd team are able to create.
The website design is one that is clean and crisp, almost minimalist in nature, designed to really showcase the hair. From galleries of services, to the hero photography produced, the key to this design is in the imagery, and it is here that the work that Hair by Phd do really shines. A simple menu, focussing on core services and key areas for customer navigation make it easy to float around the site and easier still for customers to get in touch with the right team in the right location. Mobile responsiveness is a given, and something that is easily achieved in this site. I was very fortunate to work with the team from Host Geek in the development of the website, they are absolute experts in code and are fantastic at making sure all the last details are perfect for launch.
I chose to introduce a new Plum colour to refresh their previous maroon, which really brings the design up to date and again contributes to that high-end premium feeling across the website and printed collateral. This Plum colour is modern, classy and feminine, without being girly or alienating for men, being that these are unisex salons.
I’m incredibly proud of the new website design, art direction in photography and brand refresh conducted here for Hair by Phd and know that this new visual identity will stand them in good stead for continued growth in the business
